Installation Tips

How do I replace a microchip flap on the PetSafe door? It is relatively simple but will require completely removing the product from your door. Start by removing the screws in the outer frame. There are two screws which can be found outside. They may have covers that need to be eased off with something sharp.

Once the screws are out, you should be able to remove the inner section of your door. The outer section may be sealed ad might stay in place. If it does, there is no point in removing it.

With the inner section out of your door, head for a table or on a flat work surface. 

In the back of the door, you will see four screws, one in each corner. These are crosshead screws that need to be removed.

With these screws out, the front will lift off easily but do this carefully. There is a cable between the two parts, so you can only get an inch or two between them.

Hold the two-part to create a gap slide in the replacement flap and ensure it is facing correctly. The curve faces towards the front of the door.

Carefully bring the two parts back together, ensuring the flap is in the correct position, then refit the four corner screws.

Check the flap swings freely and reinstall the door into your previous hole.
